“Alexa, define skeleton crew.” Shaunt had a vision for a minimalist video to accompany his track “Blue Jeans”. The crew, like the vision for the video, was indeed minimalist. Just me behind the camera, Shaunt on the screen and two friends helping with a bounce and driving the pickup. We wanted to shoot during golden hour which posed an issue—time frame. Shaunt was stuck in LA Traffic and made it to the shoot halfway through sunset. We shot the entire video in about 30 minutes.
The track touches on a theme of political polarization and a sweet reflection on childhood when things just weren’t so complicated. The treatment was created to reflect what we all want to do in these crazy times— just get away. With a simplistic color palette and minimal cuts to the edit, we portrayed exactly what the song was about.
